The present Orthodox catechism is an extensive and detailed guide to the Orthodox faith introducing a modern reader to the Orthodox teaching of faith, hope and love. The teaching of Christian faith is summed up in the Creed, which is a compendium of major Christian truths. The teaching of Christian hope is found in prayers, the Lord’s prayer in particular, and in the Beatitudes. The teaching of Christian love is contained in God’s law, or the Decalogue.

The Cathechism is based on lectures read in the Moscow Orthodox Seminary by Ivan Glukhov and recorded by hieromonk Alexander (Faut).

The book is addressed to students of Orthodox seminaries and schools, all Orthodox Christians and all those who are interested in the Orthodox teaching.
